Time-Keeping and Plan Update
By providing a centralized process for time collection and plan updating
project resources including managers were able to focus on the business of
project execution and strategic solution development. The cost to support centralization of
project administration provided a 37% savings to the organization as "expensive"
resources were no longer performing pure administrative tasks with up to 48% of
their time.

Reporting and Presentation Support
Developed a standard reporting tool and methodology for "basic" project
status reports that provided for the gathering of status based upon plan updates
and timekeeping activities. The
output of this activity was the formal management reporting of key project
indicators, risks and issues in a consistent manner and agreed to timeline. This function allowed the project
managers to focus on creating Stakeholder presentations and reports that were
focused on real project activities while the PMO focused on the financial and
budgetary reporting. In addition to
further enabling project managers to focus on project execution this process
provided early warning of project delays, open issues and risk identification
allowing incremental corrective action to be taken significantly earlier in the
process.
